VOLCNAOES DETAILS
When you are at our Burera cotttage you can see 5 volcanoes from Rwanda and 1 volcano from DRC.
1. Mount Karisimbi – Approximately 4,507 meters (14,787 feet) – This is the highest volcano in the Virunga Range and is located on the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
2. Mount Muhabura – Approximately 4,127 meters (13,540 feet) – This volcano is also situated on the border between Rwanda and Uganda.
3. Mount Bisoke – Approximately 3,711 meters (12,175 feet) – This volcano is known for its beautiful crater lake at the summit.
4. Mount Sabyinyo – Approximately 3,634 meters (11,923 feet) – This volcano’s name means “old man’s teeth” due to its jagged appearance.
5. Mount Gahinga – Approximately 3,474 meters (11,398 feet) – This is the smallest of the Virunga volcanoes and is located on the border between Rwanda and Uganda.
6. Mount Nyamuragira (also spelled Nyamulagira) is located Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), within the Virunga National Park it has Approximately 3,058 meters (10,033 feet)and Nyamuragira is one of Africa’s most active volcanoes, known for its frequent eruptions. It has erupted over 40 times since the late 19th century.

Amos cooked us breakfast, lunch and dinner at our convenience. He always had fresh ingredients and catered to our every need! With him we have also made a great boat trip across the neighboring lake and he has enlightened us about plants, animals and banana beer.
Gilbert was mainly there in the evenings and took care of our daily campfire. With him we climbed a nearby hill early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise overlooking both lakes and the volcanoes.
All in all we had a wonderful time at Emma’s accommodation and can highly recommend it!

Most likely among the most beautiful camp spots on Lake Rohondo (the world?), surrounded on 3 sides with water and a view onto the Varunga volcanos. Amos, who took care of us during our entire stay, was a fantastic host and cook.

Very nice cottage. I’ve done many lodges at Twin Lakes, and this one has the best view of the Volcanoes. Warm welcome from Emma, who will guide the motorcycles from Musanze to the hotel.
Very good meal, and hearty and delicious breakfast.
The room is spacious and comfortable.
An unforgettable evening by the fire!
